2010 NB Indian Summer Games

The NBASRA has made the Indian Summer Games as one of it’s priorities. Reinstating the Indian Summer Games promotes a healthy lifestyle and active living and to bring our people closer together with other Aboriginal communities in sport and recreation. This to achieves a healthy relationship between other cultures.

The New Brunswick Indian Summer Games are:

  • Cultural and Athletic gathering of Aboriginal People
  • Annual event (Summer)
  • Focus: Youth participants
  • Focus: To assist in selection for the upcoming North American Indigenous Games 
  • Community pride
  • Culture as well as sport

The 2010 New Brunswick Indian Summer Games was held in the First Nation community of Elsipogtog on July 7th – 11th. The following NB First Nations took part in the competitions:

  1. Elsipogtog (Host)
  2. Eel Ground
  3. Metepenagiag
  4. Eel Ground
  5. Tobique
  6. Eel River Bar
  7. Kingsclear

The 700+ athletes took part in the competitive sports archery, athletics, ball hockey, baseball, basketball, golf, softball, volleyball. Beach volleyball and horseshoes were offered as non-competitive sports for those who wanted to participate.
